Kalix guide: skills, build and team roles
Overview
Kalix is a Rare Light Ranged Attacker from the Lightseekers in Invokers: Titan Legacy. She spreads Burn across groups of enemies, then her Ultimate cashes those Burns in early, which gives her a clear and satisfying game plan: place your Burns, then trigger them. She also places ATK Down on one target, so she helps keep your team alive as well as dealing damage.
Her Burns deal damage based on the target's MAX HP, but each tick is capped by her own ATK. That makes her Burns a good answer to high-HP enemies, while ATK still decides how hard each tick can hit.
Kalix tops out at 645 ATK, 578 DEF and 7,073 HP before Gear. Her ATK is low for a Ranged Attacker, while her DEF and HP are both about average.
Only eight Invokers in the game can instantly tick debuffs, and Kalix is one of them. If you are building a team around Burn, she is a good candidate.
Breath of the Drake hits up to eight enemies around a target twice, placing Burn with each hit. Each Burn also damages the burning enemy's allies within six metres, so she does her best work against groups. Her Ultimate, Duality of Light, then attacks a group around a target and instantly ticks the Burns already on them.
To make the most of Kalix, land Breath of the Drake first, then use Duality of Light while the Burns are still active. Make sure her Burns land: a resisted Burn deals no damage and leaves her Ultimate nothing to tick.
Skills To Prioritize
Her Ultimate, Duality of Light, ticks one Burn at first. Level 6 raises that to two, and Max Level raises it to three. Each tick is a single tick of a Burn already on the target, not the rest of its duration at once. Its Mana cost falls from 1,100 to 1,075 at Level 5, 1,050 at Level 8 and 1,000 at Max Level.
Skill 3, Breath of the Drake, starts with a Burn of 1% of the target's MAX HP for four seconds, capped at 150% ATK per tick. Level 6 raises it to 1.15% for five seconds, capped at 200% ATK, and Level 10 to 1.25% for six seconds, capped at 250% ATK. Max Level raises the cap to 300% ATK and lowers the cooldown from 30 seconds to 25. The Burn ticks every two seconds.
Skill 2, Might of Constraint, places 20% ATK Down for six seconds at first, 27% for nine seconds at Level 10 and 30% at Max Level, which also lowers its cooldown from 27 seconds to 23. ATK Down lowers damage from enemies whose attacks scale from ATK; it does not lower damage based on MAX HP or Corruption.
Skill 1, Twin Virtue, hits one enemy twice. Its upgrades add damage without changing what it does.
If you want Kalix to clear waves of enemies, prioritize Breath of the Drake, as each upgrade makes her Burns hit harder and last longer, then take Duality of Light to Level 6 so her Ultimate ticks two Burns. If you want your Kalix to protect the team against one dangerous enemy, consider upgrading Might of Constraint first, as its ATK Down grows from 20% for six seconds to 27% for nine seconds by Level 10.
Build And Team Support
Kalix's damage comes from Burn, so build ATK and Accuracy as high as you can. Accuracy lands her Burns and ATK Down, and her Ultimate needs it for its instant ticks. ATK raises the cap on every Burn tick. Skip Crit Rate and Crit DMG: they do nothing for her Burn damage.
Duality of Light is the payoff for everything else she does, so add Mana Gen to reach it more often. For Arena, take Mana Gen on your Talisman.
For more damage, consider Attack Relics: their Set Bonus raises the ATK her Burn cap scales from. To land her Burns and ATK Down more consistently, equip Accuracy Relics. Mana Relics are worth considering for Arena, where getting her Ultimate out sooner matters most.
She has no healing, Shield or revive, so bring a healer and a Tank to keep her alive long enough to finish her sequence. Teammates who place Burn of their own give her Ultimate more to tick, up to its limit, and a Support who extends debuffs keeps her Burns active for longer.
Arena, Bosses And Spires
In Arena, Kalix's AoE attacks reward opponents who group up. Be wary of enemy Invokers with the Immunity buff or debuff cleansing Skills, as they can remove her Burns before her Ultimate ticks them. She places ATK Down rather than Control Debuffs, so pair her with an Invoker who can interrupt if your team needs one.
Kalix's native Daze Tolerance helps against Ulgorim and Galvos. Against Ulgorim, her damage and ATK Down are useful, but bring teammates who place the Heal Reduction the fight calls for. Galvos takes more damage for every debuff on him, so her Burn and ATK Down add to the team's total.
Be wary of Bosses that work against Burn. Omnissi (Fire) is immune to Burn. Sakiel takes less damage from Burn and speeds up his Skills with each Burn tick, and Mindworm does not switch that off. Against Hyxxis, every Burn Kalix places shortens the cooldown of Hyxxis's Ensacment by one second, so Hyxxis can use it more often; plan your Tank rotation around that.
Against Sorgott, her AoE attacks help clear out his Crypt Rats. Sorgott deals most of his damage through Manaburn and Crush Corruption, and Kalix does not have native Manaburn or Crush Tolerance, so bring Invokers or Relics that do, along with Invokers who can grant Immunity or cleanse debuffs.
In the Light Spire, Kalix is a great pick for clearing waves, as enemies that group up take damage from every Burn around them. Pair her with Light Invokers who keep her alive. Nirvelle the Soulraiser heals the team, revives a fallen ally and places Unkillable. Fatefinder Dylaine extends up to two debuffs on a target, which can keep Kalix's Burns active for her Ultimate, and boosts the team's ATK. Chaddeus heals the ally with the lowest HP, removes a debuff and adds a Shield, and Sanctus the Valiant shields the team and removes their debuffs.
Awaken
Awakening boosts an Invoker's stats significantly. Bonuses from Relics, Accessories, the Trophy Room, Tactics and Titan leader bonuses apply to base stats and Awakening stats alike, so unlocking the Awakening nodes is critical to maximise Kalix's potential.
Unlocking the Titan nodes at Star 2, 4 and 6 each add a second to Titan Invokation, taking the total from 12 seconds to 15.
