Brandis guide: skills, build and team roles
Overview
Brandis is a Legendary Fire Melee Attacker from the Lightseekers Faction in Invokers: Titan Legacy. She places Burn on herself to make the Burn she places on enemies stronger: Fiery Prayer becomes stronger while she's burning, and Conflagration repeats three times under the same condition. Her Burn also splashes onto nearby enemies, so she's at her best against enemies standing close together.
Fully Awakened and before Gear, Brandis has 1,020 ATK, 747 DEF and 10,496 HP. Her ATK is about average for a Melee Attacker and her HP is the highest. Every Burn she places is capped at a percentage of her ATK, so ATK raises both her direct hits and the ceiling on her Burn.
Skill order really matters when using Brandis. Burn yourself first, then cast the enhanced attack when it's safe. Be wary of team cleanses and immunity effects at the wrong moment, as removing her own Burn removes the setup for her next attack.
Skills To Prioritize
Brand Heresy attacks twice and places Burn on Brandis herself with the second hit. At Level 10 that Burn deals 1.5% of her MAX HP per tick for six seconds, and Max Level extends it to eight seconds.
Fiery Prayer attacks a cone and has two alternative Burns. At Level 10 it normally places a 1.75% primary-target Burn for six seconds. If Brandis already has Burn, it places 2% for eight seconds instead. Max Level extends those durations to eight and ten seconds and raises the ATK damage cap from 400% to 500%. The stronger version replaces the ordinary one, so don't expect both together.
Litany of Flames places Burn without the self-Burn requirement. It reaches 1.9% primary-target damage for eight seconds at Level 10 and 2% for ten seconds at Max Level. Its splash hits enemies standing near the target, so even a focused attack has consequences for a crowd.
Her Ultimate, Conflagration, attacks around a selected enemy and places Burn. At Level 10 the primary Burn is 2.3% for ten seconds. Max Level raises it to 2.5% and lowers the cost from 850 to 800 Mana. The primary attack covers four metres, and the Burn splash reaches six metres around affected enemies. While Brandis has Burn, it repeats three times instead and can select the same enemy more than once. The Skill doesn't give a total hit count or number of Burn stacks, so don't count on a specific one.
Her Combo finisher has a 20% chance to place Burn. At Level 10 and Max Level the primary percentage reaches 4%, with the duration rising from 5.5 to six seconds and the ATK cap from 400% to 500%. Accuracy doesn't remove that separate 20% chance, so it's extra damage, not a reliable opener.
All these Burns are capped by their Skill's ATK cap, which uses her ATK when the Burn is placed. Skill SPD speeds up the two-second base tick. A large enemy HP pool therefore doesn't mean every tick deals the full listed percentage.
If you want Brandis to deal the most damage, upgrade Fiery Prayer first, as Max Level raises its ATK cap from 400% to 500% and lengthens its Burn. If you want her sequence to stay reliable, upgrade Brand Heresy first, as Max Level extends her self-Burn to eight seconds.
Build And Team Support
Brandis relies on Burn, so build ATK and Accuracy to the maximum and don't build Crit Rate or Crit DMG: those rolls do nothing for her Burn damage. Put Accuracy on your Chestplate and Flask so her Burns land, and ATK to raise the cap on each of them. After that, Skill SPD makes her Burns tick faster. Keep enough HP and DEF to survive in melee.
For Relic Sets, Accuracy Relics help her Burns land on enemies, Attack Relics raise the ATK her Burn caps and direct hits scale from, and Spark Relics add Skill SPD for faster Burn ticks. Her native Bloodrot and Paralysis Tolerances match Earth Omnissi's Corruptions.
Add protection and sustain around her, and choose your automatic cleanse timing so it doesn't remove her own Burn. A shorter, reliable sequence is worth more than a bigger Burn total she never survives long enough to deal.
Arena, Bosses And Spires
In Arena, opponents have ways to interrupt or defeat a Melee Attacker before her Burn sequence pays off, so keep her protected. She also needs enemies to stay near one another for her splash to hit.
Be wary of Fire Omnissi, who is immune to Burn, as none of Brandis's Burns will work on her. Be wary of Sakiel too, who takes less Burn damage and speeds up his Skills from Burn ticks, which makes her Burns a poor fit.
Against Hyxxis, be careful how often you place Burn. Brandis' Combo Attack 5 and other Skills can place Burn, and Hyxxis's Sludger passive shortens her Ensacment cooldown by one second whenever Burn or Bleed is placed on her. Repeated Burns can bring the next sac forward while a surviving Tank is still protected from retargeting by Sludge, exposing another ally. The trigger is each Burn placed, not each damage tick, so plan your Tank rotation around it instead of treating Burn as free extra damage.
In the Fire Spire, grouped waves give her Conflagration Skill and Burn splash damage plenty of targets to hit.
Awaken
Awakening boosts an Invoker's stats significantly. Bonuses from Relics, Accessories, the Trophy Room, Tactics and Titan leader bonuses apply to base stats and Awakening stats alike, so unlocking the Awakening nodes is critical to maximise Brandis's potential.
Unlocking each Titan node at Star 2, 4 and 6 adds a second to Titan Invokation, taking the total from 12 seconds to 15.
