Rikharel the Seascale guide: skills, build and team roles
Overview
Rikharel the Seascale is an Epic Water Tank from the Eldrin Faction in Invokers: Titan Legacy. He controls a group with Taunt and supports his own survival with a Shield, then weakens individual enemies through ACC Down, Combo SPD Down and ATK Down. That's a useful combination when your team needs a real control Tank rather than only a durable body.
His direct attacks scale from both ATK and DEF with equal coefficients, and his DEF is far higher than his ATK, so a durable build fits both his role and part of his damage. That doesn't mean DEF can replace HP or the relevant Tolerances against every kind of damage.
Fully Awakened and before Gear, Rikharel has 327 ATK, 1,026 DEF and 10,245 HP. His ATK, DEF and HP all come in about average for a Tank.
He has no healing, cleansing or personal recovery in his kit, so a healer matters when a fight runs long.
Skills To Prioritize
Great Serpent's Gaze hits enemies in a six-metre semicircle in front of Rikharel. It's directional, not a full circle around him. The Skill places Taunt and gives him a personal Shield for each enemy hit. Position him to catch the enemies you want, rather than assuming every nearby opponent will be controlled.
Taunt forces susceptible enemies to attack him with Combo Attacks. Drawing several enemies at once only helps if he can survive their attention. The per-enemy Shield helps, but it doesn't replace good DEF and HP, healing or timing. At Level 10, Great Serpent's Gaze reaches a six-second Taunt with a Shield worth 5% of his own MAX HP per enemy hit. Max Level improves the Shield's duration and the cooldown, but not that percentage.
Drown Magic places ACC Down, which makes the enemy's debuffs and other Accuracy-based effects less reliable. It isn't a general damage reduction, and it isn't the Combo-miss effect Blind provides. At Level 10 it reaches 36% ACC Down for six seconds, and 40% for seven at Max Level.
Fear the Seascales slows one enemy's Combo Attacks. At Level 10 it lasts sixteen seconds on a twenty-three-second base cooldown. Max Level lowers the cooldown to twenty-one seconds and raises the slowdown to 20%.
Deep Lord's Fang, his Ultimate, places ATK Down on one enemy. At Level 10 it reaches 38% for eighteen seconds, and 40% at Max Level, where its Mana cost also falls to 800. Neither debuff affects every source of enemy damage equally.
If you want Rikharel to control waves, upgrade Great Serpent's Gaze first, as it carries his Taunt and Shield. If you want him ready for Dark Omnissi or another enemy that Combo SPD Down slows, upgrade Fear the Seascales first. If an enemy's ACC or ATK is what's beating your team, upgrade Drown Magic or Deep Lord's Fang first, but remember that not every Boss relies on ACC or ATK in the same way.
Build And Team Support
Build DEF first, then HP, then RES: about 300 RES is enough for Bosses, and Arena wants more because a debuff that is resisted does nothing, so Taunt and his debuffs would be wasted. Put Accuracy on his Chestplate and add as much Accuracy after that as the build allows, so his Taunt and debuffs land. Add Skill RECOV to bring Great Serpent's Gaze and Fear the Seascales back sooner, and Mana Gen to reach Deep Lord's Fang and its ATK Down.
For Relic Sets, Defense Relics raise the DEF his damage and durability scale from, and Health Relics raise the MAX HP his Shield scales from. Accuracy Relics help his Taunt and debuffs land, Fury Relics bring his Skills back sooner, and Mana Relics help him reach his Ultimate.
Rikharel has native Manaburn and Manashock Tolerances. They help against Bosses with those Corruptions, but they don't replace the DEF and HP he needs to survive.
Pair him with a healer, because he doesn't heal or cleanse the team, and with damage dealers who can use the time he creates. His damage is mostly single-target, so he doesn't replace an attacker that clears waves.
Arena, Bosses And Spires
In Arena, landing the area Taunt can give a fragile attacker or Support time to complete their actions. Accuracy and timing matter. Be wary of enemy Invokers who are immune to or resist Taunt, as they can stop the control from landing. Don't trade survival for personal damage: staying alive under Taunt is the reason to bring him.
Against Dark Omnissi, Combo SPD Down switches off her active Skill reflection. Rikharel places it through a normal active Skill rather than an Ultimate, which makes it easier to keep up. Skill RECOV or a second Combo SPD Down source can help with any gaps. His native Manaburn and Manashock Tolerances fit important parts of that fight, but they don't make her reflected damage safe once the debuff drops.
His Manaburn Tolerance is also a reason to consider him against Hyxxis, though he still needs teammates who can break the eggs and deal enough damage.
Against Sorgott, don't count on Taunt working on him. His ACC Down, Combo SPD Down and ATK Down can still help where Sorgott allows them, and only one of his two native Tolerances matches Sorgott's main pair.
Against Galvos, who takes 5% more damage for every debuff on him, Drown Magic, Fear the Seascales and Deep Lord's Fang each add a debuff to him.
In the Water Spire, the semicircle Taunt and Shield are a natural fit. He can occupy several enemies while your damage dealers work. He doesn't heal, cleanse or revive the team, so another Support has to cover attrition and mistakes.
Awaken
Awakening boosts an Invoker's stats significantly. Bonuses from Relics, Accessories, the Trophy Room, Tactics and Titan leader bonuses apply to base stats and Awakening stats alike, so unlocking the Awakening nodes is critical to maximise Rikharel's potential.
Unlocking each Titan node at Star 2, 4 and 6 adds a second to Titan Invokation, taking the total from 12 seconds to 15.
