Valentu the Devoted guide: skills, build and team roles

Overview

Valentu the Devoted is a Legendary Light Tank from the Nocturna Faction in Invokers: Titan Legacy. He draws enemy attention, redirects allied damage and helps your team use its Active Skills again sooner. His protection is substantial when a healer backs him up, but it puts the pressure on him instead of removing the need for healing.

All of Valentu's attacks scale with DEF. That makes DEF an offensive stat for him as well as part of his durability, and building ATK doesn't raise those attacks the same way.

Fully Awakened and before Gear, Valentu has 414 ATK, 1,081 DEF and 13,523 HP. His ATK is high for a Tank, his DEF is high and his HP is the highest of any Tank.

Mindworm is scarce: he's one of the few Invokers in the game who place it, so he's a good candidate if you're building a team that needs it.

Skills To Prioritize

Lover's Lunge places ATK Down for eight seconds at Level 10 and Max Level, improving from 45% to 50%. That helps against ATK-based damage, but it doesn't reduce every kind of damage. Its base cooldown is ten seconds, so ATK Down doesn't stay up all the time.

Devout Denial places Weaken on one target. Max Level raises it from 22% to 25% for 16 seconds and lowers the base cooldown from 23 to 22 seconds. That adds team damage to his defensive role, as long as it lands and your team attacks while it lasts. It also gives nearby allies 40% Deflection for 15 seconds at Level 10 and Max Level. A portion of their incoming damage is redirected onto Valentu, while they take the rest. Deflection isn't Reflect: the redirected damage goes to him, not back to the enemy. When several allies take damage, that's a lot of pressure on Valentu, so HP and healing still matter even with high DEF.

He has no self-heal, Shield or revive, so bring a healer. Even a build that survives focused attacks can struggle when team-wide damage is redirected onto him, especially damage that bypasses DEF or is based on maximum HP.

Haunted Rebuke attacks enemies around Valentu and places Taunt and Mindworm. At Level 10 and Max Level, Taunt lasts ten seconds. Mindworm lasts 15 seconds at Level 10 or 16 at Max Level, and the base cooldown falls from 25 to 24 seconds. Taunt forces eligible enemies to attack Valentu with Combo Attacks, and Mindworm blocks passive Skills where the target allows it. Both work well on ordinary enemies, but not on Bosses with an immunity or a protected passive.

Unbroken Vow, his Ultimate, attacks an area and reduces all active cooldowns on nearby allies by 4.8 seconds at Level 10, or five at Max Level. Max Level also lowers its Mana cost from 850 to 800. That can bring allied healing, control and damage Skills back sooner, but it doesn't fully reset Skills with more cooldown remaining. His fifth Combo Attack gives himself a smaller random active cooldown reduction, reaching 1.5 seconds at Max Level. It picks a random Skill, so it won't always bring Taunt back.

If you want Valentu to control ordinary enemies, prioritize Haunted Rebuke, as Max Level extends Mindworm from 15 to 16 seconds and lowers its cooldown from 25 to 24 seconds. If damage redirection is what your team is missing, consider upgrading Devout Denial first, as Max Level raises Weaken from 22% to 25% and lowers its cooldown to 22 seconds on top of the 40% Deflection it already gives.

Build And Team Support

Valentu places ATK Down, Weaken and Mindworm, so put Accuracy on his Chestplate first and stack more after that as the build allows. Build DEF first, then HP, then RES, up to about 300 for Bosses, with more for Arena. Add Skill RECOV to bring Haunted Rebuke and Devout Denial back sooner.

For Relic Sets, Defense Relics raise the DEF that all his attacks scale from, and Health Relics give him more HP to absorb the damage redirected onto him. Accuracy Relics help his ATK Down, Weaken and Mindworm land, and Resistance Relics help you reach the RES you need.

Pair him with a healer, because Taunt and Deflection put damage on him that he can't heal himself.

Arena, Bosses And Spires

In Arena and the Light Spire, Valentu's Taunt, debuffs and team cooldown reduction help, as long as a healer keeps him up through the damage that Taunt and Deflection put on him. His job is protection and disruption, not replacing a dedicated damage dealer.

Against Sorgott, Valentu's native Crush and Manaburn Tolerances match Sorgott's Corruptions. Mindworm can't disable Sorgott's protected passive, though, and Sorgott's damage is based on maximum HP and bypasses DEF, so Tolerances alone won't keep Valentu safe. Bring a healer.

Awaken

Awakening boosts an Invoker's stats significantly. Bonuses from Relics, Accessories, the Trophy Room, Tactics and Titan leader bonuses apply to base stats and Awakening stats alike, so unlocking the Awakening nodes is critical to maximise Valentu's potential.

Unlocking each Titan node at Star 2, 4 and 6 adds a second to Titan Invokation, taking the total from 12 seconds to 15.

Review the Awakening guide for more detail.
