Marilla Story

Marilla might be the most powerful Nocturna alive. She took down a pair of Barons who carried the stolen crown of a Demon Lord and wings said to be cut from an Angel… then she stole both crown and wings for herself. Between those and her blessed handguns, only fools or kings try to stand in her way.

Marilla the Black Salvo guide: skills, build and team roles

Overview

Marilla the Black Salvo is a Legendary Dark Ranged Attacker from the Nocturna Faction in Invokers: Titan Legacy. She sets up her own offensive buffs, extends them and reaches an eight-shot Ultimate, so much of her damage setup comes from her own Skills. Protect her and give her debuffs to work with, and she becomes a steady source of ranged damage. She relies on allies for defensive support and for the enemy debuffs that strengthen her Ultimate.

Fully Awakened and before Gear, Marilla has 1,225 ATK, 829 DEF and 7,784 HP. Her ATK and HP are both high for a Ranged Attacker.

Her damage pattern changes from Skill to Skill. Humble the Mighty and Monarch Tempo focus on one enemy, Dark Gambit hits an area, and Crowning Salvo picks random enemies for repeated shots. Picking a target by hand doesn't override a Skill's random targeting.

Skills To Prioritize

Dark Gambit makes three area attack hits over three seconds. The first critical hit places ATK Up on her, the second places Crit DMG Up and the third places Skill SPD Up. At Level 10 those are 60%, 80% and 30%, lasting thirteen seconds. Max Level keeps the strengths, extends the duration to sixteen seconds and lowers the base cooldown to twenty-two seconds. Skill SPD Up speeds up her Skills, but it isn't Skill RECOV, so don't treat it as a cut to every cooldown. It only pays off if she can finish her attacks without being stopped.

Monarch Tempo makes three single-target hits. Each critical hit extends a random buff on her by four seconds at Level 10, and Max Level can pick up to two buffs per hit. The picks stay random, and buffs that can't be extended are excluded, so it isn't a way to extend Unkillable forever.

Humble the Mighty deals 125% more damage to a target above 50% HP at Level 10, and Max Level lowers that threshold to above 40% while keeping the same bonus. That lets her pressure healthier enemies for more of their HP bar, but it isn't an execution bonus that grows as the target nears death.

Her fifth Combo Attack grants fifty-six Ultimate Mana at Level 10 and sixty at Max Level, so keeping her attacking between Skill casts helps her reach the Ultimate.

Crowning Salvo, her Ultimate, fires eight times at random enemies and gains damage from debuffs on its target. At Level 10 the bonus is 19% per debuff, capped at an 88% increase; Max Level reaches 20% per debuff with a 100% cap, and five debuffs reach that ceiling. More debuffs after that don't add anything. Max Level also lowers its Mana cost to 1,000. In a crowded fight the shots can split across enemies instead of all landing on the one you want. Against a lone Boss they can't split, but the Boss's defences and your debuffs still decide the damage, so don't expect a guaranteed burst total in every fight.

If you want her buffs to stay up, upgrade Dark Gambit and Monarch Tempo first. If you want her to pressure healthy targets, upgrade Humble the Mighty first, as Max Level widens the part of the fight where its bonus works. If your team places plenty of debuffs, upgrade Crowning Salvo first, for the 20% per debuff, the 100% cap and the lower cost.

Build And Team Support

Her critical hits switch on Dark Gambit's buffs and Monarch Tempo's extensions, so build Crit Rate to about 75-80% first, then as much Crit DMG as the build allows, with ATK alongside. She places no debuffs, so she doesn't need Accuracy, though her teammates do. After that, Combo SPD, Skill RECOV and Mana Gen are useful secondary investments once her damage and survival are covered.

For Relic Sets, Crit Rate Relics get her critical hits more often, which keeps Dark Gambit's buffs and Monarch Tempo's extensions running. Crit Damage Relics make each hit harder, Attack Relics raise the ATK her hits scale from, and Predator Relics add ATK and then Crit DMG. If you want Crowning Salvo more often, Mana Relics add Mana Gen.

Pair her with Invokers who place debuffs, as they power Crowning Salvo, and with a healer and a Tank to give her the protection she lacks. She doesn't cleanse, remove buffs, place Heal Reduction or stop revival, so bring teammates who do. Amprix is worth pairing with her if you have it: its Max Level Invokation-end buff places 40% Crit Rate Up for fifteen seconds, which helps her critical-triggered buffs and extensions. That arrives after Invokation, so it doesn't guarantee Crit Rate during her opening attacks.

Arena, Bosses And Spires

In Arena, focus fire through her direct attacks can remove a dangerous opponent before that enemy's team settles. Be wary of divers and control, as she needs protection, and her Ultimate can spread its shots across other enemies.

Against Bosses, she's a damage dealer powered by other Invokers' debuffs, since Crowning Salvo gains damage from each debuff on its target. Against Althar, her native Crush and Fatigue Tolerances help, but the rest of the fight still needs teammates who cover what she doesn't. Against Dark Omnissi, who reflects Active Skills, raw damage from Marilla alone isn't enough: bring teammates who can handle her Combo SPD Down.

In the Dark Spire, Dark Gambit's area attacks and the Ultimate's repeated hits help against waves. Invest when your team can keep Marilla alive and maintain the conditions her offensive kit needs.

Awaken

Awakening boosts an Invoker's stats significantly. Bonuses from Relics, Accessories, the Trophy Room, Tactics and Titan leader bonuses apply to base stats and Awakening stats alike, so unlocking the Awakening nodes is critical to maximise Marilla's potential.

Unlocking each Titan node at Star 2, 4 and 6 adds a second to Titan Invokation, taking the total from 12 seconds to 15.

Review the Awakening guide for more detail.
