Grimnall the Hollowed guide: skills, build and team roles
Grimnall the Hollowed is a Legendary Earth Ranged Attacker from the Nocturna Faction in Invokers: Titan Legacy. He turns the buffs on him into Ultimate Mana and Titan Mana, so a well-supported offensive team can fill his Ultimate and your Titans much faster. He can't give himself those buffs, so the team around him decides how well he works.
Overview
Fully Awakened and before Gear, Grimnall has 1,298 ATK and 6,890 HP. His ATK is among the highest for a Ranged Attacker, and his HP is about average.
His Skills count the buffs on him. Hallow Volley attacks one enemy and gives Ultimate Mana for each buff on him. Devilish Ricochet attacks a wide area and gives Titan Mana for each buff on him. His Ultimate, Triple Trickshot, hits three times and gives Titan Mana on each hit, again based on how many buffs he has at that moment. His Combo Attack 5 extends buffs already on him, which helps keep a supported setup running.
When allies keep buffs on him, he becomes a ranged damage dealer who also charges your Titans. Without those buffs, his Skills have little to count on.
Skills To Prioritize
Hallow Volley gives 35 Ultimate Mana per buff at Level 10, and that doesn't go up at Max Level. Max Level lowers the base cooldown from 21 to 20 seconds and increases damage.
Devilish Ricochet gives 50 Titan Mana per buff at Level 10, and it stays at 50 at Max Level. Max Level lowers the cooldown from 23 to 22 seconds. Don't multiply that Titan Mana by the number of enemies it hits: the Skill's text describes a gain per buff, not a gain per enemy.
Triple Trickshot gives 75 Titan Mana per buff on each of its three hits at Level 10 and Max Level. Max Level lowers its Ultimate cost from 1,050 to 1,000 and increases damage. The buff count can change during the three hits, so don't count on the maximum every time.
His Combo finisher extends one random buff on him by 1.9 seconds at Level 10. At Max Level it extends up to two random buffs by two seconds. It keeps useful buffs running longer, but it can't create a buff and can't extend effects that can't be extended.
Pistols at Dawn has a damage bonus that reaches 60% at Max Level, but it requires Grimnall having more HP than his target for it to trigger. Out of his Skills, only prioritize this one if you want to build Grimnall as a pure Arena nuker.
If you want Grimnall to charge your Titans faster, take Devilish Ricochet and Triple Trickshot to Level 10 first, since their Titan Mana per buff is already at its highest there. If you want his Ultimate back sooner, do the same with Hallow Volley. If you want his buffs to last longer, take the Combo Attack to Max Level, as it then extends two buffs at once.
Build And Team Support
As a Ranged Attacker with no Bleed or Burn in his kit, build Crit Rate to about 75-80%, then as much Crit DMG as the build allows. Past that point, Crit DMG is worth more than more Crit Rate. Add enough HP and DEF to stay alive. For Arena, put Mana Gen on the Talisman.
For Relic Sets, Crit Rate Relics help you reach the Crit Rate threshold, and Crit Damage Relics add Crit DMG once you're there. Predator Relics add ATK and, at five pieces, Crit DMG. Health or Defense Relics help him stay on the field.
He places no debuffs, so bring teammates who place DEF Down or Heal Reduction, and a healer and a Tank to keep him alive. Pair him with allies whose buffs are useful on their own, not just for his Mana count: filling a team with weak or badly timed buffs can cost more damage or survival than it gains. Be wary of enemies that steal or remove buffs, as they take away what his Skills count.
Arena, Bosses And Spires
In Arena, keep Grimnall protected and buffed. Be wary of enemy teams that open with Control Debuffs, as he has nothing of his own to stop them. His range helps him stay back, but enemies can still target him.
Against Koltmos, Grimnall's native Blight and Manashock Tolerances answer Koltmos's Corruptions, and his range keeps him away from Koltmos's close-range swipes while his Skills keep hitting.
Against Pentiax, who takes 50% more damage from Titans and 50% less from Invokers, Grimnall's Titan Mana from Devilish Ricochet and Triple Trickshot helps your Titans come in more often. He still needs protection to stay alive there.
In the Earth Spire, Devilish Ricochet hits many enemies at once, while Triple Trickshot focuses one. Allies need to provide healing, Shields or control for repeated waves, and the Titans you equip decide how much his Titan Mana is worth.
Awaken
Awakening boosts an Invoker's stats significantly. Bonuses from Relics, Accessories, the Trophy Room, Tactics and Titan leader bonuses apply to base stats and Awakening stats alike, so unlocking the Awakening nodes is critical to maximise Grimnall's potential.
Unlocking each Titan node at Star 2, 4 and 6 adds a second to Titan Invokation, taking the total from 12 seconds to 15.
