Sunspot Ricklow guide: skills, build and team roles
Overview
Sunspot Ricklow is an Epic Fire Ranged Attacker from the Magi Faction in Invokers: Titan Legacy. He pairs broad area attacks with an Ultimate that spreads Burn through an enemy group. The clever part is how he gets there: Volcanic Sphere pays Ultimate Mana for every enemy it hits, and Burning Justice can shorten Sphere's cooldown. A wave of enemies gives him both targets and fuel for the next cast.
His fifth Combo Attack also hits an area, which keeps up the pressure between Skills, although it doesn't replace the Burn from his Ultimate. He isn't a healer, a shielder or a control specialist, so give him time and protection to make that repeated damage count.
Fully Awakened and before Gear, Ricklow has 1,041 ATK, 716 DEF and 6,044 HP. His ATK and HP are about average for a Ranged Attacker.
Skills To Prioritize
Volcanic Sphere gives 33 Ultimate Mana per enemy hit at Level 10 and 35 at Max Level, up to nine targets. A single Boss doesn't pay out like a packed wave, so don't count on nine targets in fights that rarely have that many enemies.
Burning Justice makes two attacks. Each critical hit reduces Volcanic Sphere's cooldown by 1.9 seconds at Level 10 or two seconds at Max Level.
Librum Laser attacks one enemy and removes a random buff. If the target has no buffs, it makes an additional attack. Max Level removes two buffs and lowers the base cooldown to seventeen seconds. It needs Accuracy to remove the buff, and a protected or remaining buff can deny the extra attack. Enemy debuffs don't stop the extra attack.
Corona Explosion, his Ultimate, places Burn through two attack hits. At Level 10 it reaches a 1.5% MAX HP tick on the main target and a 0.75% tick on nearby enemies, every two seconds at base speed, lasting ten seconds. Both are capped at 250% of Ricklow's ATK per tick; Max Level lifts the cap to 300%. That's why ATK still matters for a Burn-based attacker. The Ultimate costs 1,050 Mana at Level 10 and 1,000 at Max Level.
If you want Ricklow to clear waves with Burn, prioritize Corona Explosion, as Max Level raises its ATK cap to 300% and lowers its Mana cost to 1,000. If you want him to open up buffed enemies, consider upgrading Librum Laser first, as Max Level removes two buffs, which can create openings that one removal can't. Neither upgrade guarantees a continuous Burn cycle or strips buffs a Boss protects.
Build And Team Support
Only Corona Explosion places Burn and his other Skills are direct hits, so build ATK and Accuracy as high as the build allows. Put Accuracy on his Chestplate and Flask first, as both Burn and buff removal need it to land, then stack ATK and more Accuracy after that. Increasing Crit Rate does help him cycle Volcanic Sphere faster, as critical hits on Burning Justice shorten its cooldown, but it isn't essential to build, unlike Accuracy. He's a Ranged Attacker, so keep an eye on his HP too.
For Relic Sets, Attack Relics raise the ATK that his Burn ticks cap at, and Accuracy Relics help Burn and Librum Laser's buff removal land.
A Tank and an Invoker with control give him the time his Burn needs. Pair him with a healer, as he brings no healing or Shield.
Arena, Bosses And Spires
In Arena, Ricklow offers ranged pressure against clustered opponents, but he has no opening Stun and no team protection. Be wary of enemy Invokers who cleanse debuffs, as they remove the Burn that Corona Explosion places.
Against Althar, Ricklow's native Crush and Fatigue Tolerances match the fight and he places Burn rather than Bleed, but he doesn't place Block Revive, so bring another Invoker who does.
Be wary of Fire Omnissi, who is immune to Burn, as Corona Explosion's Burn does nothing to her.
Against Hyxxis, Burn needs care. Her Sludger passive shortens Ensacment's cooldown by one second whenever Burn or Bleed is placed on her. Repeated Burns can bring the next sac forward while a surviving Tank is still protected from retargeting by Sludge, which exposes another ally. This is an application trigger, not a penalty on every damage tick, so factor it into your Tank rotation rather than treating Burn as free extra Boss damage.
In the Fire Spire, groups of enemies feed both his area damage and Volcanic Sphere's Mana generation. That's his clearest case for investment: a wave attacker with some buff removal on the side, backed by a Tank and a healer.
Awaken
Awakening boosts an Invoker's stats significantly. Bonuses from Relics, Accessories, the Trophy Room, Tactics and Titan leader bonuses apply to base stats and Awakening stats alike, so unlocking the Awakening nodes is critical to maximise Ricklow's potential.
Unlocking each Titan node at Star 2, 4 and 6 adds a second to Titan Invokation, taking the total from 12 seconds to 15.
