Aldous the Atomage guide: skills, build and team roles
Overview
Aldous the Atomage is a Legendary Earth Ranged Attacker from the Magi Faction in Invokers: Titan Legacy. He brings broad damage and debuffs, but his most distinctive Skill is Memorium Seal, which stops enemies from invoking their Titans. His fifth Combo Attack feeds his own Titan Mana, so he can help his team reach a useful Titan phase.
Fully Awakened and before Gear, Aldous has 1,290 ATK, 741 DEF and 8,102 HP. His ATK and HP are among the highest for a Ranged Attacker.
Titanblock is scarce: he is one of a couple of Invokers who place it, so he is a good candidate if you are building a team that needs it. It only helps against an enemy that can invoke a Titan in the first place, so choose your fights with that in mind.
Skills To Prioritize
Memorium Seal attacks around a selected enemy and places Titanblock for 13 seconds at Level 10 and Max Level. Max Level improves its damage and lowers the base cooldown from 25 to 24 seconds, and the duration stays the same.
Titanblock stops affected enemies from invoking Titans. It isn't Disable or Stun, and it doesn't block their ordinary Skills. It needs Accuracy to land, and immunity is a separate check from RES.
Mystic Centrifuge attacks one enemy and removes 300 Titan Mana from it at Level 10 and Max Level. If the target has no Titan Mana, Aldous gains 300 Titan Mana instead.
His fifth Combo Attack gives a clearer Mana return: it deals small-area damage and grants 47 Titan Mana per target hit at Level 10 or 50 at Max Level. The return depends on how many enemies it actually hits, not on its maximum target count.
Arcane Disintegrator, his Ultimate, attacks a large forward area and ignores 10% of the target's DEF at Level 10 or 12.5% at Max Level. It then places 20% Weaken for 18 seconds and Burn for ten seconds.
The Burn deals 2% MAX HP per tick to its target and 1% splash to nearby enemies. Its cap rises from 400% of Aldous's ATK at Level 10 to 500% at Max Level. Ticks come every two seconds at base, and Skill SPD speeds them up, but the ATK cap stops the Burn scaling without limit against enemies with a lot of HP. The DEF bypass applies to the attack itself, and Weaken is placed after the attack, so don't count on it for the opening damage.
Splitter Lens places 30% Move SPD Down on a broad group for six seconds at Level 10 or seven at Max Level. It slows movement, not Combo Attacks or Skill cooldown recovery.
If you want Aldous to shut down enemy Titans, upgrade Memorium Seal first, as Max Level improves its damage and shortens its cooldown. If you want him to add area damage, upgrade Arcane Disintegrator first, as Max Level raises its Burn cap from 400% to 500% of his ATK and its DEF bypass to 12.5%.
Build And Team Support
Only his Ultimate places Burn, and his other Skills are direct hits. Build ATK and Accuracy to the maximum, with Accuracy on his Chestplate and Flask so Titanblock, Weaken, Burn and Move SPD Down land, and ATK to raise the cap on his Burn and his direct hits. Crit Rate does help his direct-hit Skills but isn't essential to build, unlike Accuracy. After that, Skill SPD makes his Burn tick faster. Keep enough HP and DEF to survive. He has native Fatigue and Nightmare Tolerances.
For Relic Sets, Accuracy Relics help his debuffs land more consistently, Attack Relics raise the ATK his Burn cap and direct hits scale from, and Spark Relics add Skill SPD for faster Burn ticks.
He has no heal, Shield or revive, so bring a healer or Shield provider to keep him alive.
Arena, Bosses And Spires
In Arena, Memorium Seal gives Titanblock a clear target, with Weaken and Burn adding pressure.
Against Wind Omnissi, Splitter Lens's Move SPD Down counters her Combo evasion, and Aldous's native Fatigue and Nightmare Tolerances match her Corruptions. The Move SPD Down needs to land and still be active when you need it.
Against Pentiax, who rewards Titan damage, the Titan Mana from his fifth Combo Attack gives your Titan more to work with.
Be wary of Fire Omnissi, who is immune to Burn, as none of Aldous's Burn will work on her. Be wary of Sakiel too, who takes less Burn damage and speeds up his Skills from Burn ticks.
Against Hyxxis, be careful how often you place Burn. Arcane Disintegrator places Burn, and Hyxxis's Sludger passive shortens her Ensacment cooldown by one second whenever Burn or Bleed is placed on her. Repeated Burns can bring the next sac forward while a surviving Tank is still protected from retargeting by Sludge, exposing another ally. The trigger is each Burn placed, not each damage tick, so plan your Tank rotation around it instead of treating Burn as free extra damage.
In the Earth Spire, Aldous's broad damage is useful, but he has no healing or Shield, so bring a healer or Shield provider to sustain the team.
Awaken
Awakening boosts an Invoker's stats significantly. Bonuses from Relics, Accessories, the Trophy Room, Tactics and Titan leader bonuses apply to base stats and Awakening stats alike, so unlocking the Awakening nodes is critical to maximise Aldous's potential.
Unlocking each Titan node at Star 2, 4 and 6 adds a second to Titan Invokation, taking the total from 12 seconds to 15.
