Sawtooth Veyna guide: skills, build and team roles
Overview
Sawtooth Veyna is an Epic Water Ranged Attacker from the Freeborn Faction in Invokers: Titan Legacy. She puts several focused effects on one enemy: Heal Reduction, Disable, a Pull, RES Down and buff removal. That is useful when one enemy's advantages need to be taken apart before your team follows up, though not every fight lets every part of her kit work.
Fully Awakened and before Gear, Veyna has 1,128 ATK, 603 DEF and 6,430 HP. Her ATK is high for a Ranged Attacker, and her HP is about average.
Disable is scarce: she is one of the few Invokers in the game who place it, so she is a good candidate if you are building a team that needs it.
Skills To Prioritize
Vengeful Blade places 80% Heal Reduction at Level 10 and Max Level. Max Level extends the duration from six to seven seconds and keeps the ten-second base cooldown. That is a lot, but 80% still leaves 20% of ordinary healing before other rules apply.
Hateshot places Disable for twelve seconds at Level 10 and Max Level. Max Level lowers the base cooldown from 22 to 20 seconds. Disable stops Active Skills; it doesn't mean the enemy can't do anything at all.
All of these need Accuracy to land. A long duration doesn't mean she keeps an effect up all the time, especially before the first cast or after a resisted one.
Hookshot Pulls one enemy toward Veyna, attacks it and places 70% RES Down for fourteen seconds. Max Level improves its damage and lowers the base cooldown from 24 to 23 seconds, without increasing the RES Down. The Pull can break an enemy's position, but it also brings the target close to a Ranged Attacker, so Veyna needs protection or a strong follow-up when the pulled enemy stays dangerous. Extra Accuracy can't get past immunity to Control Debuffs.
Final Revenge, her Ultimate, removes random buffs after its attack. Level 9 is the important breakpoint, raising the removal from two buffs to four. Protected buffs can't be removed, and random selection matters when more buffs are eligible. At Level 10 and Max Level it also deals 60% more damage against a target whose max HP is higher than hers. That compares max HP, not current HP, so it isn't an execute against a nearly defeated enemy, and lowering her own HP mid-fight doesn't switch it on.
If you want Veyna to strip more buffs, upgrade Final Revenge first, as Level 9 doubles the removal from two buffs to four. If you want her to keep a dangerous enemy from using its Skills, upgrade Hateshot first, as Max Level lowers its cooldown so Disable comes back sooner.
Build And Team Support
Veyna places Heal Reduction, Disable and RES Down, and her Pull needs to land too, so put Accuracy on her Chestplate and Flask and stack as much as the build allows. After that, build ATK and Crit Rate to about 75-80%, then as much Crit DMG as the build allows. Past that point, Crit DMG is worth more than more Crit Rate. Add enough HP and DEF to survive the enemies she pulls toward her. Final Revenge's bonus depends on the target's max HP being higher than hers, but that is no reason to skip HP and DEF. She has native Blight and Daze Tolerances, which match Ulgorim's Corruptions.
For Relic Sets, Accuracy Relics help her debuffs and Pull land more consistently, and Crit Rate Relics help you reach the Crit Rate threshold. For more damage once those are covered, Predator Relics add ATK and, at five pieces, Crit DMG.
Bring a Tank or other protection so pulled enemies don't turn on her, and Invokers for wave damage and healing, as her Skills focus on one target.
Arena, Bosses And Spires
In Arena, Veyna has a target for her whole sequence: Disable their Active Skills, Pull them out of position, place RES Down and remove their buffs. Her fifth Combo Attack hits a small area, but her Skills are built for a priority target, not for controlling a whole wave.
Against Ulgorim, Vengeful Blade places 80% Heal Reduction, which cuts his healing but doesn't stop it, so keep your own team's damage and sustain up. Be wary of Bosses that are immune to Control Debuffs, as they can shrug off her Pull and Disable.
In the Water Spire, Veyna handles a priority target while allies provide area damage and protection.
Awaken
Awakening boosts an Invoker's stats significantly. Bonuses from Relics, Accessories, the Trophy Room, Tactics and Titan leader bonuses apply to base stats and Awakening stats alike, so unlocking the Awakening nodes is critical to maximise Veyna's potential.
Unlocking each Titan node at Star 2, 4 and 6 adds a second to Titan Invokation, taking the total from 12 seconds to 15.
