Bruk Story

Give a sharkman a fish, and he'll eat for a day. Teach a sharkman to fish with a giant hook, and he'll become Freeport's greatest fisherman. Bruk's catches are legendary โ€“ he once sailed into 80-foot waves in his tiny little skiff and came back with a marlin so big, it fed the entire Free Armada for weeks. Bruk says this is an exaggeration โ€“ the waves were only 60-foot.

Bruk the Hook guide: skills, build and team roles

Overview

Bruk the Hook is a Rare Light Melee Attacker from the Freeborn Faction in Invokers: Titan Legacy. His kit combines damage, single-target DEF Down, Mana generation from critical hits and an area Hex. Hex is his best reason to join a team when enemies keep returning after you defeat them.

Hook, Line, and Goner attacks up to eight low-current-HP enemies in a seven-metre semicircle in front of Bruk and places Hex. If an enemy dies while Hex is active, it gains Block Revive. Your team has to land Hex and finish the target before it expires, so casting the Ultimate alone doesn't mean every enemy stays dead. Positioning matters too: Bruk can't Hex enemies behind him or outside the semicircle, so line up your damage with the enemies that are close to dying instead of just casting it.

Fully Awakened and before Gear, Bruk has 766 ATK, 545 DEF and 6,350 HP. That puts his ATK and DEF about average for a Melee Attacker and his HP low, so he'll need protection to stay in melee range long enough to finish his targets.

Skills To Prioritize

The Ultimate's Hex lasts eight seconds at Level 1, 11 seconds at Level 6 and 14 seconds at Level 10. Max Level keeps the 14-second duration while improving damage and lowering the Mana cost from 850 to 800. The revival block works from the first Level, so Max Level just makes it cheaper and stronger.

Catch of the Day reaches 35% DEF Down for 13 seconds at Level 10. Max Level keeps the same DEF Down and duration while shortening its cooldown from 24 to 23 seconds. It helps your team finish off one priority target, but it only hits a single enemy, not everyone caught in the Hex.

Fillet-O-Foes attacks twice and generates Mana for his Ultimate on each critical hit. At Level 10, that is 60 Mana per critical hit. That's why Crit Rate matters for getting his Ultimate out, as well as for damage. Don't count on both Mana gains unless both hits crit.

If you want Bruk to be a dedicated anti-revival pick, upgrade Hook, Line, and Goner first, as Level 6 and Level 10 give Hex 11 and then 14 seconds to finish its targets. If you want him to help your team burst down one dangerous enemy, consider Catch of the Day first, as its DEF Down reaches 35% for 13 seconds at Level 10.

Build And Team Support

Fully Awakened and before Gear, Bruk has 6,350 HP, 766 ATK and 60 Accuracy. His Skills don't heal, Shield, cleanse or revive, so his survivability has to come from Gear and teammates. Invest in Accuracy first on his Chestplate, since it helps Hex and DEF Down land, then stack it as far as the build allows. After that, aim for 75-80% Crit Rate, then as much Crit DMG as the build allows: Crit Rate also fills his Mana, and ATK, Crit Rate and Crit DMG help finish the targets. Mana Gen gets him to the Ultimate sooner, and the Ultimate is the reason to bring him.

Accuracy Relics help Hex and DEF Down land more often, while Crit Rate Relics make Fillet-O-Foes' Mana gain more reliable. Don't build him just for a big Ultimate hit if that leaves him unable to land the Hex he's there for.

Another Invoker who raises Crit Rate can help him fill his Mana, while another debuffer or area attacker can help secure kills during Hex. They don't get around the Accuracy check or Hex running out, though. A healer or protective Support behind him covers what his kit lacks.

Arena, Bosses And Spires

Against Arena teams built around revives, Bruk can make a kill stick. He still has to reach the cast, place Hex and help the team finish the target. Watch out for enemy Invokers with Immunity, cleansing or high RES, as they can ruin that, and Bruk has no opening Control Debuff to set up the kill himself.

Against Althar, time Hex with your team's damage, so when his reviving minions go down, Hex gives them Block Revive and they stay down. Bruk's native Fatigue Tolerance also helps in part of the fight, and his kit doesn't place Bleed, so it avoids Althar's Bloodless trigger.

Against Yskara, don't count on Hex: when Yskara brings an enemy back, Block Revive doesn't stop it.

Against Sorgott, Hook, Line, and Goner's area damage helps clear his rats, but Hex doesn't replace the buff control, cleansing and Tolerances you need. Bruk lacks native Manaburn and Crush Tolerance.

In the Light Spire, floors with reviving enemies suit him in a similar way. His area Ultimate deals wave damage, while DEF Down helps take down a priority target. You'll still want healing and protection from allies, as anti-revival doesn't stop incoming damage while you set up the kill.

Build Bruk when enemies coming back to life is a real problem for you. If enemies already stay dead, he's a lower priority, as other attackers can bring the same damage and DEF Down.

Awaken

Awakening boosts an Invoker's stats significantly. Bonuses from Relics, Accessories, the Trophy Room, Tactics and Titan leader bonuses apply to base stats and Awakening stats alike, so unlocking the Awakening nodes is critical to maximise Bruk's potential.

Unlocking each Titan node at Star 2, 4 and 6 adds a second to Titan Invokation, taking the total from 12 seconds to 15.
