Kolan Story

Every sailor believes in the nightmares of the deep sea, but few have seen any with their own eyes. Not so for Kolan Deepreef. He has lived among the nightmares, fought their wars and conducted their rituals – and he acts as their hands on the surface, his goals as inscrutable as the ocean’s depths.

Kolan Deepreef guide: skills, build and team roles

Overview

Kolan Deepreef is an Epic Water Tank from the Freeborn Faction in Invokers: Titan Legacy. He stays in the fight with a personal Shield and conditional healing, while area Launch and debuff transfer let him do more than take hits. When your team places debuffs on a priority enemy, Kolan helps keep them there.

His damage scales from both ATK and DEF, so the DEF that keeps him alive also feeds his attacks.

Fully Awakened and before Gear, Kolan has 301 ATK, 984 DEF and 10,928 HP. All three are about average for a Tank.

His kit has no Taunt, so he doesn't force every enemy to attack him. His Shield is personal rather than team-wide, and he doesn't heal the rest of the team, so he works best with a healer beside him.

Skills To Prioritize

Reef Barrier gives Kolan a Shield equal to 25% maximum HP for thirteen seconds at Level 10 and Max Level. Reflect Damage lasts for the same time, improving from 25% to 30% at Max Level, and the base cooldown falls from 21 to 20 seconds. Reflect Damage sends damage back at the attacker, so Kolan still needs DEF, HP and support.

Deepdrop Kick heals him for 29% of damage dealt at Level 10 when the target has at least three debuffs. Max Level raises the heal to 30% and lowers the requirement to two debuffs. The easier requirement is the bigger change if your team struggles to keep three debuffs on a target. The heal depends on damage actually dealt, not a fixed share of his maximum HP, so enemy damage reduction affects it, and you shouldn't expect it on every opening attack.

Cursebound Anchor, his Ultimate, attacks twice. The first hit transfers two random debuffs from Kolan to the enemy at Level 10, or three at Max Level. The second extends up to three of the target's debuffs by 6.7 seconds, or seven at Max Level. The third extension target first appears at Level 6, which is a separate step from the third transferred debuff at Max Level. It isn't a team cleanse, it needs debuffs on Kolan to transfer, and it can't move protected effects. The debuffs it transfers and extends are random, so you can't count on one particular debuff.

Spines of the Sea Launches nearby enemies for four seconds at Level 10 and Max Level.

If you want Kolan to survive better, prioritize Reef Barrier, as its Shield and Reflect Damage are what keep him standing. If you want his healing to be dependable, consider upgrading Deepdrop Kick to Max Level first, as it lowers the debuff requirement to two. If you want him to transfer and extend debuffs, upgrade Cursebound Anchor first.

Build And Team Support

Kolan places Launch and transfers and extends debuffs, so put Accuracy on his Chestplate first and stack more after that as the build allows. Build DEF first, then HP, then RES, up to about 300 for Bosses, with more for Arena. Skill RECOV brings his active Skills back sooner.

For Relic Sets, Defense Relics raise the DEF his survival and attacks scale from, and Health Relics add to his HP, which also raises the Shield. Accuracy Relics help his Launch, transfers and extensions land, and Fury Relics add Skill RECOV so his Skills come back faster.

Kolan has native Daze and Manaburn Tolerances. Daze Tolerance helps against Ulgorim and Manaburn Tolerance against Sorgott, but each only against its own Corruption. He doesn't heal the rest of the team, so bring a healer or an Invoker who provides a Shield. Allies who reliably place debuffs make Deepdrop Kick's requirement easier to meet, and you'll want damage dealers around him.

Arena, Bosses And Spires

In Arena, Spines of the Sea's Launch interrupts enemies, which can protect your allies or set up damage, as long as his Accuracy lets it land.

Be wary of Bosses that are immune to Control Debuffs, as they won't be affected by his Launch, though his Shield and debuff tools still work.

In the Water Spire, Launch can break up a wave while your damage dealers work. Pair him with healing and damage, because he doesn't heal the team.

Awaken

Awakening boosts an Invoker's stats significantly. Bonuses from Relics, Accessories, the Trophy Room, Tactics and Titan leader bonuses apply to base stats and Awakening stats alike, so unlocking the Awakening nodes is critical to maximise Kolan's potential.

Unlocking each Titan node at Star 2, 4 and 6 adds a second to Titan Invokation, taking the total from 12 seconds to 15.
