Bryneth the Ram guide: skills, build and team roles
Overview
Bryneth the Ram is a Rare Earth Stonehearts Tank who draws attacks onto herself and hits back. Her Ultimate, Knockout Clang, combines two effects that work well together: Taunt makes susceptible enemies use Combo Attacks against her, while Reflect Damage sends part of that damage back to the attacker. This can protect fragile allies while your team deals with a wave. Spinning Justice heals her through her own attacks, and Throw Up The Horns places ATK Down on a target to blunt its damage.
Fully Awakened and before Gear, Bryneth has 264 ATK, 804 DEF and 9,016 HP, all of them low for a Tank. Reflect Damage doesn't make her immune to damage: she still has to survive the attacks she draws, and her heal depends on how much damage her own attack deals. A healer or shielder can be the difference between holding the enemy's attention and dying early.
Skills To Prioritize
At Level 10, Knockout Clang gives seven seconds of Taunt and a fourteen-second 27% Reflect Damage buff. Max Level keeps the Taunt at seven seconds, increases reflection to 30% and extends it to sixteen seconds. The Mana cost falls from 850 to 800.
Reflect Damage sends damage back to the attacker; it doesn't mean Bryneth takes 30% less damage. It's also different from Deflection, which passes damage from one ally to another. Keep that in mind when you're deciding whether your team needs more protection or more healing. Taunt requires Accuracy and a susceptible enemy. It's tied to the Ultimate, so the Mana she has decides how soon she can protect the group.
Spinning Justice makes two attacks and heals Bryneth after each one according to the damage dealt. At Level 10 and Max Level, each heal is 60% of the damage dealt. If an enemy takes very little damage from the hit, the heal is small too; it isn't two heals of 60% MAX HP. Max Level lowers the cooldown from twenty-three to twenty-two seconds without increasing that healing percentage. DEF counts towards the attack's mixed ATK/DEF scaling and helps her survive, but the heal still depends on the damage that reaches the enemy.
Throw Up The Horns places ATK Down on one target. Level 10 reaches 30% for twelve seconds, while Max Level extends it to fourteen and lowers the cooldown from twenty-five to twenty-four seconds. It cuts damage from ATK-based attacks, but it doesn't reduce every special damage mechanic the same way.
If you want Bryneth to pull attacks away from your damage dealers, prioritize Knockout Clang, as Max Level raises its reflection to 30% for sixteen seconds and lowers the Mana cost to 800. If you want her mainly for ATK Down on a dangerous target, upgrade Throw Up The Horns first, as Level 10 reaches 30% for twelve seconds. Spinning Justice's heal grows from 40% to 60% of damage dealt by Level 10, but Max Level only lowers its cooldown, so it gains the least from the final upgrade.
Build And Team Support
Build DEF first, then HP, then RES: about 300 RES is enough for Bosses, and Arena wants more because a debuff that is resisted does nothing, so Taunt and ATK Down would be wasted. Put Accuracy on her Chestplate and add as much Accuracy after that as the build allows, so Taunt and ATK Down land. Add Mana Gen so Knockout Clang comes around sooner, and Skill RECOV if you want Spinning Justice and its heal back more often.
For Relic Sets, Defense Relics raise the DEF that Spinning Justice scales from, and Health Relics add to her low HP. Accuracy Relics help her Taunt and ATK Down land more consistently, and Mana Relics give her the Mana Gen to cast Knockout Clang sooner. In Arena, Resistance Relics help stop her being disabled before Taunt lands.
Pair her with a healer or shielder, because her own healing depends on damage dealt and can't keep her alive alone.
Arena, Bosses And Spires
In Arena, she needs enough time to reach Knockout Clang and enough durability to survive once it lands. Enemies that resist Taunt, enemy positioning and high burst damage can all ruin that. Reflection alone doesn't fix those problems.
Taunt doesn't work on Bosses that are immune to Control Debuffs, so judge her there by her ATK Down and how well she survives.
The Earth Spire is a good place to try Bryneth when your roster lacks a frontline controller. She gives your damage dealers time while healing herself. Her Combo Attack and most active attacks only hit a single target, so she isn't a dedicated area damage dealer.
Awaken
Awakening boosts an Invoker's stats significantly. Bonuses from Relics, Accessories, the Trophy Room, Tactics and Titan leader bonuses apply to base stats and Awakening stats alike, so unlocking the Awakening nodes is critical to maximise Bryneth's potential.
Unlocking each Titan node at Star 2, 4 and 6 adds a second to Titan Invokation, taking the total from 12 seconds to 15.
